I approached John Wells, Builder to extend and refurbish my house after observing the professionalism and workmanship of their team at my neighbour’s.
My project had its challenges: I wanted to repurpose a traditional worker’s cottage without losing its character, and its location in a flood-prone area placed a number of restrictions on what could be done.
John and Michael thought outside the box to meet these challenges, managing every aspect of my project while keeping me involved at every stage. They complemented my original house when adapting it to my purpose, took advantage of its previously unseen views and eliminated its problems with flooding. They provided excellent subcontractors in cabinetry, tiling and ironwork (to name a few), and specialised equipment to crane an awkward item of furniture into my house prior to completion.

After speaking with three landscaping contractors we realised that the our garden renovation was too complicated for their skill set.
John Well’s team came to the rescue and the outcome was a much better space than we had ever dreamed. They worked closely with us and had much better ideas on how to utilise the space, and a thorough understanding of boundary and pool fencing issues.

John, just a quick note re your rather large and extensive effort in resolving the somewhat tricky job of joining the two houses together.
Your attention to detail, roof lines, complimenting fabrications on exterior claddings, rendering of the small brick to blend in with the old Queenslander, flow paths from the central kitchen area onto the verandas and new “last supper” dining area/joining fixture along with the quality workmanship of you and the team were excellent. Also your advice, from your experience in other large renovations, was well given and fortunately for us , accepted, as the end result was a unique and special product when finished and might I say marvelled at by those who have enjoyed the space since. One other thing you advised was to vacate while you worked there, and in hind sight that was a most sensible thing to do. So belated thank you for a job well done, suspect you get some odd requests but joining two different houses probably isn’t a regular request.
